“I've already seen some of DOMIs "improvement plans" in action and I am not impressed. I watched from my job as they changed the intersection of Forbes and Dallas, and it has wrecked parking for our business, caused daily traffic accidents, and amplified the road rage outside our building, a children's learning center. I watch from my desk daily as people drive the wrong way up a one way intersection into oncoming traffic. The city and DOMI have ignored all requests made to reevaluate the safety of this intersection, believing their job is done, and society will magically change to accommodate after a few years.
I have no hope they'll do any better in the Strip, and they should be stopped before they get the chance to try and create a new mess that they are unwilling to bend on.”
Amanda, Resident
“Yinz are going to be putting people's lives at risk because your stupid —- don't seem to realize that emergency vehicles won't be able to respond in a timely manner, if at all really! Also, a lot of the bikers in Da Burgh are —- who don't use the bike lane even when there is a clearly designated lane for them to use or follow traffic patterns and laws of the road anyway…screw them. The Gainey administration needs to pull it's head out of its —-, and stop mismanaging the city, jag offs….”

“Preserve the integrity and historic feel of the strip!”
Thomas, Visitor
“Slowly this historic section of Pittsburgh is dying, This area brings in much needed tourism dollars for downtown Pittsburgh.”
Mark, Visitor
“Enough with the bike lanes…”
Lauren, Employee
“The sidewalks are already in shambles, overcrowded, and unsafe. Now you are encouraging pedestrians to walk in a bike lane and risk getting hit by a rage filled driver. I would rather see speed bumps to slow traffic and working traffic lights that allow safe crossings. This plan does not make the area safer.”
Tyler, Visitor
“Frequent the strip for the shopping, bike lane would make accessibility too difficult.”
Regan, Visitor
“We go the strip quite frequently and traffic is already an issue, but going to 1 lane, you are forcing people to NOT want to come at all. This is a horrible idea.”
Leonora, Visitor
“The Strip has already seen many changes, but this proposed change is over the top.”
James, Visitor
“This plan will have a negative impact on me as a consumer by impeding traffic to only one lane.
There is definitely more vehicles on the streets than bicycles, Eliminating a vehicle lane is ridiculous and counterproductive for consumers and visitors to the Strip. I am opposed to this plan and it should be scrapped.”
Jacob, Visitor
“We have enough bike lanes in Pittsburgh that are unused and causing congestion. If people want a bike only dedication, invest in the trail along the river”
Jay, Resident
“Dangerous plan for emergency vehicles. What are you thinking?”
Donna, Visitor
“Leave the strip the way it is. The only way I can see an improvement is is there was a way for more parking. This is a terrible plan. Leave the strip district the way it is”
Alexandra, Visitor
“I hate to see you ruin the businesses in the Strip to have more bike lanes. You have already messed up most of the city. Stop doing this!”
Adam, Visitor
“Leave it alone. How many friggin bike lanes do we need!?”
Zachary, Visitor
“SAVE THE STRIP”
Kimberly, Vistor
“Don’t change the strip!”
John, Visitor
“Going to the strip is a family tradition.
It part of Pittsburgh and growing up here. When my family comes from our if town. We go to the Strip for the day.
It's the soul of Pittsburgh.”
Maureen, Visitor
“Please do not change the Strip. We love it as it is! Parking is a premium on the Strip!”
Elleen, Visitor
“I was born in the Strip, baptized at St. Patrick's Church, have shopped there all my life. Changing a main street to make accommodations for the few bikers who use it on a daily basis, while ignoring the needs of businesses that make the Strip district a thriving market and tourist area, does not make sense! Once approved, these changes will be in effect year round. How many bikers are out there in the winter?? Face it! Pittsburgh is not a bike riding city and cannot be forced to be one. Don't let BIKE Pgh run our city planning or ruin the strip! BTW has anyone ever counted the biker riders on a daily basis? I think not.”
William, Resident
“Why does it have to be Penn ave? Make the bike lane on Railroad Street or the alley between Penn and Liberty.”
David, Visitor
“Enough with the bike lanes. Idiot Peduto already messed things up enough with his bike lane BS. Traffic in this city needs to get BETTER, NOT WORSE.
EJECT MAYOR GAINEY ASAP”
Jean, Business Owner
“A one lane Penn Ave is not conducive to traffic in the Strip . It will devastate merchants that are the Strip”
Todd, Visitor
“I am an avid biker, and am still against this plan. There are a few, better ways to navigate The Strip on a bike; there are not many bikes in that section of town…maybe a few commuters, and one lane of Penn is blocked more than half the time. The Strip is now, with the terminal upgrade, a destination like never before.
Don't Mess With The Strip.
Work on fixing the South Side.”
Sarah, Visitor
“I have always loved shopping in the strip district. So many interesting things to see and do. Do not destroy the city further. We love our city THE WAY IT IS!!!!”
Paul, Resident
“It would ruin the strip worse then the bike lanes.”
Elise, Visitor
“To me as a native Pittsburgher, the Strip represents local business, respect to the history of this city, and diversity. These proposed measures take away from the essence of the strip itself and instead prioritize gentrification.”
Samantha, Resident
“Do not change the strip district! It is our local grocery area”
Theodore, Resident
“My wife and I have lived in Pittsburgh for 7 years and rely on the strip district for fresh produce and other food. We strongly oppose the city's plan and are willing to help in anyway to make sure it doesn't change.”
Anish, Resident & Visitor
“Segregated bike lanes can be created on liberty or railroad streets for those who do not like to share the roadway”
